How to factory reset Apple iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus

The Apple iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus are two of the best selling smartphones to date, but for smartphone newcomers or Android switchers, the menu can be a confusing place to be in.

One question that you might bump into is how to do a factory reset on the iPhone 6s running the latest iOS 9 platform. Search for it in the universal search and nothing comes up!

In fact, Apple prefers to avoid calling this a factory reset, and instead has several options that allow you much more control over what you reset in your phone. The equivalent to a factory reset is something called 'Erase All Content and Settings' in iOS 9, but you can choose to erase only network settings, or just the layout of icons on the home panel. We show you how to do all of this in a few simple steps right below, take a look.

Once you are ready to proceed with the factory reset, go into 'Settings'
Find the 'General' tab and tap on it
Scroll all the way down to the last 'Reset' tab, and tap on it

1. Here you can see various options. If you want to do a factory reset, pick the 'Erase All Content and Settings' tab

2. "Reset All Settings" this will reset all your network settings. BE WARNED: on early iOS 8 versions this option comes with a devastating BUG - it erases all the files from your iCloud Drive.

3. "Reset Network Settings" this brings you to factory network settings.

4. "Reset Keyboard Dictionary" did you know that your iPhone keeps track of all the imaginative new words that you are using and that are not in its built-in dictionary? Yes, all of that embarrassing history of your word-creations can be reset from here.

5. "
Reset Home Screen Layout" this will bring your home screen to its stock looks, meaning that it will re-arrange all your apps on your homescreens and if you've created folders it will disable all those arrangements.

6. "
Reset Location & Privacy" if you have changed privacy and location settings for some apps or in general, this will bring them to their defaults.
